Week 4, Term 1

We have been swimming every day this week. It has been pretty chilly but we have braved the cold water for some refreshing fun!

Family Picnic Tea
On Tuesday night we had our annual Family Picnic Tea. This was a fun packed night with delicious treats to eat and games to play.

Next Friday is Purple Cake Day. Hunt out any items of clothing that are purple to dress in for the day. We are hoping to have a sea of purple children. There will be face painting, cake stalls etc all for a gold coin donation each.

Week 3, Term 1

Welcome to Week 3!

During reading time we have started our rotation activities. While Neroli is taking small groups of children for guided reading we spend six 10 minute slots completing various literacy activities. We are in groups of 3/4 friends and we work together learning and having fun.

On Tuesday we have art in the afternoon. This week were experimenting mixing primary colours. We used red and yellow to make....orange!

During maths we will continue to work on number knowledge.
We have been working on our class treaty looking at our Rights and Responsibilities. We will be starting to look at the responsibilities of people around the school and who is there to help us.
At last we are back in the swimming pool! In an attempt to maximise the time we have left of this fabulous weather Dianne and I have decided to combine our swimming times. This will allow the children to swim every day. Therefore please ensure your child has their swimming gear at school on a daily basis.
On Tuesday night (25th Feb) we have a Family Picnic night at school. It would be lovely to see as many people there as possible. It is a great opportunity for children and families to get together and enjoy these gorgeous summer evenings.

Week 2, Term 1

This week we had some fun with Kelly Sports. Michelle and Nathan came along to school to show us all their equipment and the fun games they play.
We went to the front field with all the children from the Kowhai Syndicate.
Neroli was very proud of our 'Can do' attitude because we gave everything a try. If we dropped a ball or missed a catch we didn't cry we just had another go at it with a big smile!

Kelly Sports are running an after school activity session at Nelson Central on a Wednesday from 3.05pm to 4.05pm at the cost of $75 from 19th Feb to 9th April. If you wish to enrol your child go to.... www.kellysports.co.nz or email Michelle on michelle@kellysports.co.nz


On Friday we had a Teddy Bears Picnic. We had been learning all about the letter and sound 't' this week so we thought it was a great idea to celebrate our week. We had a fabulous time showing our teddies around our class. We read them some stories and had a delicious afternoon tea together.

On Tuesday evening we have Meet the Teacher evening at 7pm. We will meet in Dianne's room (Renwick 2) for a general overview then we will return to respective classes for a more detailed outline of class routines, philosophy etc. It would be lovely to see as many people as possible.

Our First Week for 2014!

On Friday we had a very special visit from Asher! Asher was very soft and a little bit shy but enjoyed exploring our class.

Unfortunately we are still not swimming as we are awaiting a new pump for the pool. As soon as the pool is ready to go I will advise our swimming days. We will have 3 sessions per week.
Our library day is Friday. Please help your child to remember to return their library book before next Friday in order for them to be issued a new one.
Thank you to those parents that have completed information forms and milk permission slips. Milk in schools will be starting next week.
The children are doing a fabulous job of settling into school life and routines. Thank you for your support. I feel very proud and honored to have such a terrific bunch of enthusiastic children.
